Mercator fellow Prof. Philip Leifeld stays with us the whole summer

It is our great pleasure to welcome our Mercator Fellow Prof. Dr. Philip Leifeld for a 10-week research stay at the DPE - on July 4th he will give a research talk on the "Analysis of Complex Social Systems" as part of our weekly DPE Seminar. During his time at the DPE, he will also offer PhD courses on Discourse Network Analysis and HLM.

Prof. Leifeld will be joining us from the University of Manchester, where he is Professor in Social Statistics. He was previously Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Essex, and Professor of Research Methods at the University of Glasgow, after holding fellowships and research positions at the University of Konstanz, the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag, ETH Domain, Zurich), the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, and the University of Bern. Prof. Leifeld’s research interests align closely with our own, as his research interests focus on the study of political networks, computational social science, and comparative public policy. Philip Leifeld has published in political science journals like the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, and the British Journal of Political Science.
